Children in Reception and Years 1 and 2 receive a free piece of fruit every day as part of a government funded healthy eating initiative. Although the children do not get a choice, the fruit on offer changes each day, eg bananas, apples, tangerines, pears, carrots, etc. In the summer months we also receive strawberries and plums, etc.
We also operate a Fruit Tuck Shop which was instigated to allow children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 to keep having a piece of fruit every day. The fruit is charged at 20p per piece and is sold during morning break. Occasionally, surplus fruit is used to make sweet baked goods such as buns and biscuits.
The Fruit Tuck Shop is primarily for children in KS2. If you would specifically like your child to purchase an additional piece of fruit please send them in with 20p.
