What are the aims of our Music curriculum?
At Tottington Primary School we are passionate about promoting high standards of music. Through combining the Early Years and National Curriculum with our TPS core values, our ambitious Music curriculum equips all our children with the necessary skills.
By the end of their time at Tottington Primary School, our children will have learned to sing and play musically with increasing confidence and control. They will have developed an understanding of musical composition, organising and manipulating ideas within musical structures and be able to reproduce sounds from aural memory. Children will be able to listen with attention to detail and recall sounds with increasing aural memory and play a tune on a variety of instruments understanding staff and other musical notations. They will be able to appreciate and understand a wide range of live and recorded music drawn from different traditions and from great composers and musicians, as well as developed an understanding of the history of music.
Through our well-planned, and sequenced Music curriculum our children acquire the vital knowledge and skills required for the next stage of their learning journey and on into adulthood. This will enable the children of Tottington Primary School to become successful, active and positive members of their local community and the wider world.
